Questions:

After our event, one person wrote in a great question:

What happened after the resurrection? I know Jesus spent time with the Apostles, but I've always wondered how much longer He lived and how he eventually left this earth. (Acts is not very descriptive.)

Jesus was around for forty days after the resurrection (Acts 1:3-8). During that time he taught people about the kingdom of God. He was seen by more than 500 people. Some of the instances we know about:

Mary Magdaline in the garden (Easter Sunday): Mark 16:9-11, John 20:11-18
To other women (Easter Sunday): Matthew 28:9-10
To two people on the road to Emmaus: Mark 16:12-13, Luke 24:13-32
To Peter: Luke 24:34, 1 Corinthians 15:5
To the ten disciples in the upper room (no thomas or judas): Like 24:36-43, John 20:26-31,
To the ten plus Thomas: Mark 16:14, John 20:26-31, 1 Corinthians 15:5
To seven disciples who were fishing: John 21:1-23
To disciples in Galilee: Matthew 28:16-20, Mark 16:15-18
To more than 500: 1 Corinthians 15:5
To James: 1 Corinthians 15:7
To his disciples at his ascension: John 24:44-49, Acts 1:3-8

At the ascension, Jesus has supernaturally taken to Heaven where He sits on a Throne with the Father. Several years later He appeared to Paul on the road to damascus (Acts 9:1-19)

Good books for those with questions about Christianity

Questions about Historical Reliability of the Bible and the credibility of Christianity:
Lee Strobel's The Case for Christ is a new classic. Since he was an atheist when he began researching, the answers seem more credible. His follow-up The Case for Faith and The Case for Easter have good reliable content.

Thinking about religion through a philosophical lens:

Tim Keller's The Reason for God is great. Its a book in 2 halves. The first half is his answers to questions raised by current detractors. The second half of the book is a logical case for Christianity. I suggest that many read the second half first.

Anthony Flew's There is a God is remarkable. Until 2004, Flew had been one of the best thinkers and writers in the atheist camp. He taught and inspired writers such as Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins. His commitment to following the evidence, no matter where it leads led him to deism in his later years.

Francis Collins recently published The Language of God. Until his retirement in 2008, Collins was the head of the human genome project. He was agnostic, leaning atheistic, until his medical school residency when he became a Christian. His book shows a beautiful marriage between science and faith.

The Case for Easter Event

On Thursday, April 9, 2009 Little Falls held an event in which we showed a DVD of Lee Strobel talking about his own journey in researching the Christian claims about Easter. If you came, we are so thankful that you would spend your time with us. Our desire is to be a resource to you in discovering the truth about God. Please let us know what you thought and ideas you may have for future events/topics that would be helpful to address. Thanks again - Matt
